What attracted me to this table?
the shape, the weight, the solidity, the shelf, the carving detail, the legs. Classic scallop shell motif and canné (split cane ) shelf
Found in UK but feels French to me.
Wait and see what I do with this!!
Then we have this old oak barley twist plant stand, or plinth (socle) for a sculpture (my use here in France ) Will not be painted, I will have a mix of polished wood and painted pieces at the house. This is how it would be and should be
And my metal patère crochets (coat hooks) for cloaks cupboard in hall; from maisonsdumonde
I adore that table – the woven shelf gives it, you rightly say, a very French feel. The plinth is to die for and the hooks should never have anything hung on them lest they can’t be seen 😉

My sentiments exactly.
I am thinking capacious table for wine and nibbles and solid enough to put your feet up on after hard day.
Shelf for papers, mags and board games
See WBFM , it is PRACTICAL!

What was it William Morris said? ‘Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful’ … I have those words painted on a piece of driftwood by my daughter about 10 years ago. You don’t need the reminder 😀

The plinth is not just beautiful but sensuously so…I can’t believe the turning was done by a machine…what a fantastic find. Must give you pleasure just to look at it…(taking time from something else…)
