An early Thursday Three – a marriage made in heaven

So we picked up this mirror , purchased on ebay, on Sunday. Look at those feet! Beautiful carving, I’ll post better photos soon I promise.

On Monday a very nice man GAVE us this cabinet below left  – Guys, it isn’t a repro. Clearly these two are meant to be together  en France. (Cave guest room or tulip bedroom?) Yes, it’s 12 noon and I am still in my pj’s, although I have been working since 8 o’clock this morning.

Old Guy in Bath Robe broke from waxing a cute console to demonstrate-below right-

chinoiserie cushion cover

I had only two minutes in the Charity Shop before picking up Nel. I grabbed this Chinoiserie cushion cover thinking “silly money, might be silk and machine embroidery?”.When I got it home it IS silk, with hand pleating and hand embroidery.

It was so dirty the bird looked brown and it had the classic stains that come from folding something away in a damp drawer for years , thus transferring patches of the pigments from the old embroidery thread onto the rest of the piece.

I tried a gentle wash( inside out of COURSE!) with my “colour catcher sheets”.   Only the tiniest faint mark left; I challenge you to spot it.
