Episode 120 – Hang on in there… progress update #1

websI don’t think the spiders wanted us back at the house this month. It’s only been a few weeks since I removed the egg sacs behind the bedroom shutters , so in retaliation they attempted to barricade us out.

Not too clear in this picture, but basically they criss-crossed multiple webs right down the cave door. If they had been a little brighter they might have recreated this scene from “Arachnophobia” behind the main FRONT door.

We almost completed two major tasks and lots of little niggling ones, including putting up these aged metal coat hooks in hall cupboard ( it won’t have a door on & still needs the wiring boxing in and the frame fixing but I was FED UP with not being able to hang anything up! coat hooks)

If you have a theory as to the purpose of this giant button/siren thing at the bottom of the stairs  we would like to hear it.

French Electrician thinks air-raid siren for the whole village.

Oh reconnect and press – I dare you!

  2. bizzyella says:

Ah, it’s disconnected. So you can reconnect it. I would make it the light switch in whatever place you are when you first come in from England. What a great way to say you are back.

    • We never dared try it! I’m not convinced that it was just an on/off switch due to size and fact that there is no green off button!!!
Also our electrician said that if we pressed it, they would probably hear it in Carcassonne.
Good idea to make it main switch, I certainly think it ought to be a feature of final look.

    • It’s very strange
They all hang out behind the shutters on 2nd floor when we aren’t there. Maybe as a gesture because they hate the chestnut beams up there?
They also love the front door cave door and workshop doors
Yet they don’t seem interested in the first floor at all.

ebay.fr: from seller ‘samu69chinatsu’ look for “Commutateur industriel vintage “M.E.M.” stop / start d’urgence pushbutton”
(I think the original items is on ebay.co.uk, the item is made in UK)..but very much the same item.. 55 gbp…
So the next question would be…what did it turn off?
Perhaps you could disconnect the wiring (if not already done), clean it up and make it your own personal STOP button. (for whatever needs stopping at tht moment).
It also makes me think of the button used to go back in time for 10 seconds in Galaxy Quest…I think we could all use one of those…
