Episode 33- There’s a mirror in the bathroom…..

DSC01702Well, in the French house shower room anyway.

The vintage painted cast iron mirror came first, found in a charity shop in Stourbridge town, which sat in my garage in the UK for years waiting for a perfect room to put it in……..everything comes to he (or she) who waits.

Joined more recently by a near matching towel hook from BHS.sept13 107

The shower room was originally a piece chopped off the tulip bedroom and had been papered with this design which depicts romatically attired ladies walking across a distant shoreline; alternating with individual ladies striking a twee pose with a flock of doves. The shoreline image is based on a 19th  century painting by a Swedish artist whoses name escapes me as I am drinking vintage port (it is Boxing Day).

DSC00065My daughter noticed that around the shower, only images of the ladies with their backs turned were used, presumably for modesty’s sake!!
